Zend Studio for Eclipse

Es ist ja kein Geheimnis, dass wir PHP-Programme – hauptsächlich für Virtuemart und Joomla – entwickeln. Das Werkzeug. mit dem wir die meiste Zeit verbringen ist naturgemäß der Editor. Ich habe eine ganze Reihe freier und kommerzieller PHP-Editoren ausprobiert. Vor einiger Zeit bin ich habe ich mich dann für Zend Studio entschieden, obwohl ich die Idee hinter Eclipse immer sehr gut fand. Damals gab es aber nur rudimentäre PHP-Unterstützung.

 

Nachdem Zend aber viele Komfortfunktionen (z.B. CSS) nicht anbot und zudem mit jeder Version langsamer wurde, habe ich PHPed ausprobiert und bin dabei geblieben. Guter Editor, schnell, ein paar nette Goodies (z.B. SSH-Shell) und sehr gute Code-Vervollständigung (auch über Projekte hinweg).

 

Nun kommt Zend mit einer Studio-Version für Eclipse. Die optimale Kombination – auf den ersten Blick. Leider funktioniert die Code-Vervollständigung nicht so gut wie in PHPed (z.B. wird die Joomla-Datanbankklasse im Projekt nicht automatisch komplettiert) und die Performance könnte besser sein. Die eine oder andere Funktion vermisst man auch (z.B. intelligente Synchronisierung mit dem Webserver).

 

Aber Eclipse wäre nicht Eclipse, wenn man da nichts passendes finden würde. Selbst im Zend-Forum wird das bekannte Aptana empfohlen, um die fehlenden Synchronisierungsfunktionen nachzurüsten. Damit hat man dann auch eine universellere und m.E. einfachere Serververwaltung (in der Pro-Version auch SFTP).

 

image Die Killerapplikation für Eclipse ist das (leider wenig bekannte und auf Mylyn basierende) Tasktop, mit dem auf wirklich intelligente Weise Tasks mit dem Arbeitsprozess verknüpft werden können. Outlook und Google Kalender, Mails und Aufgaben können integriert werden.

 

Die Kombination aus verschiedenen Eclipse-Erweiterungen und Zend Studio macht aus dem System die (für mich) perfekte Entwicklungsumgebung. Auch wenn alle Lizenzkosten zusammengenommen diese Kombination zur teuersten PHP-Umgebung machen.
